Monte Pittman to Deliver Keynote Speech for Belvedere Middle School Graduation

Monte Pittman, musician, songwriter and honorary board member of Little Kids Rock – a leading nonprofit provider of free musical instruments and teacher trainings in the U.S. public schools – will deliver the keynote speech at Belvedere Middle School’s commencement ceremony on June 23rd at 9 a.m.

Monte Pittman by Kara Thomas

Pittman is most famous for teaching Madonna and Guy Richie how to play guitar, as well as being Madonna’s touring guitarist. He was a guitarist for Prong and toured with Adam Lambert during his GlamNation tour last year. Pittman also launched a solo career with his debut album in 2009.

Earlier this year, Pittman visited a class of Little Kids Rock students at Belvedere Middle School, who performed Madonna’s “Crazy For You” and Pittman’s own song, “The Deepest Dark,” alongside Pittman. He answered students’ questions about the music industry, career choices within the field, and talked about his work with pop icons and heavy metal bands. Pittman capped off the visit by signing photos and guitar picks for the students, who presented Pittman with an acoustic guitar that was signed by the whole class.

Since joining Little Kids Rock’s Honorary Board of Directors in August 2010, Pittman has helped raise more than $7,000 to restore and revitalize music education in schools nationwide through a donation page for his fans, and by painting a custom guitar that raised nearly $5,000 through a live auction.
